Mutants, Muslims, and Murdoch

Murad Aldin and Manifest ONE discuss the world of "X-Men" and draw on the similarities to challenges faced by Muslims and other minorities in America. Parallels are drawn between the struggles and reactions of the "mutants" to that of the Muslim community showing that comic books, too, can carry powerful, relevant messages.

The duo also talk about the recent scandal in the UK revolving around Rupert Murdochs News Corp which owns News of the World in the UK and Fox News in the US. They discuss the spying techniques used to attain stories, the hearing at the House of Commons and some theories as to what this could all lead to.

UPRISING! and Selling out

Murad Aldin and Manifest ONE talk about their newly released Music video project, "Uprising!" www.uprisingvideo.com The track was written and recorded by Manifest and Karaz. Murad Aldin directed the music video, and what came out was an anthem to all those who struggle for freedom against an oppressor. The two discuss what went into the creation of the song as well as the video, from conceptualization to release and encourage others to do what they can to support the struggles for freedom in the Middle East and around the World.

Next, Murad and Manifest discuss how far is too far when it comes to attaining success in the entertainment industry, when it comes at the expense of ones Islamic principles.

Finally, Murad closes the show sharing some experiences from his recent trip to New York, with the "Top 5 things to do in New York City".

Julia and Laura also participate in a conversation about sexism in the media and how women and general and specifically Muslim women are depicted. They also bring up how to counter such negative portrayals.
